To enable print driver isolation which will load the printer drivers in separate memory space from the print spooler:

  • Open an administrative command prompt
  • Type "gpedit.mec" (without the quotes)
  • Navigate to Computer Configuration - Administrative Templates - Printers
  • Edit the setting "Override print driver execution compatibility setting reported by print driver"
  • Select the "Enabled" radio button
  • Close Group Policy Editor
  • from the Administrative command prompt type "gpupdate /force" (without the quotes) 

You may need to restart the Print Spooler service or reboot for this to take effect.
